In this episode I speak with Trauma Therapist | 2.0 member Ashlyn Burns.

Ashlyn received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy with a certificate in Trauma Counseling and practices at a private practice based out of Rome GA.

Ashlyn, who lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband, markets herself as a Trauma therapist and sees mostly women who are adult survivors of childhood complex trauma. In July of 2018 Ashlyn attended a training with the Justice Resource Institute out of the Boston.

Elisha Goldstein, Ph.D. is the co-founder of The Center for Mindful Living in West Los Angeles and creator of the 6-month mentorship program A Course in Mindful Living. He is a psychologist, speaker and author who has published numerous articles, chapters, and blogs, including Uncovering Happiness: Overcoming Depression with Mindfulness and Self-Compassion, The Now Effect: How This Moment Can Change the Rest of Your Life and co-author of A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook, foreword by Jon Kabat-Zinn and MBSR Every Day. He synthesizes the pearls of traditional psychotherapy with a progressive integration of mindfulness to achieve mental and emotional healing. He has his private practice in West Los Angeles, California.

David Treleaven, PhD is a writer, educator, and trauma professional whose work focuses on the intersection of trauma, mindfulness, and social justice. He is author of the book Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness: Practices for Safe and Transformative Healing published by W. W. Norton, which was a #1 New Release on Amazon.

He trained in counseling psychology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, received his doctorate in psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and is currently a visiting research scholar at Brown University.

He currently teaches with generative somatics, an organization that engages in trauma healing with social justice organizers, and is donating 60% of proceeds from his book to three social justice organizations that are challenging the social conditions that perpetuate trauma.

Through her many years working with people who have experienced complex trauma, Lorna remains passionate in her belief of people’s ability to heal.

She has worked for over 35 years with non-profit groups striving to end violence against women and children and believes that all trauma survivors have the right to healthy, productive and meaningful lives.

Lorna is a strong advocate for access to high-quality education and in-training service to assist providers in accompanying their clients on the client-defined pathway to healing.
