Dan Griffin is back on The Trauma Therapist | Podcast. You’ll recall that Dan was with us for the first time on episode 82. I invited Dan back for one reason--because he’s a vital and inspiring voice in the area of treating trauma in men.

Danny Brom is the Founding Director of the Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma of Herzog Hospital in Jerusalem.

Dr. Brom is a certified clinical psychologist and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare of Hebrew University. The trauma center creates new responses to unmet needs of traumatized populations. The Center includes a clinical and training center, and projects for young children, the Ethiopian Jews in Israel, released soldiers and children with problems of emotion regulation.

Among Danny Brom’S publications are the books Treating Traumatized Children: Risk, Resilience and Revery (Brom, Pat-Horenczyk & Ford, eds., 2009) and Helping Children Cope with Trauma: Individual, Family and Community Perspectives (Pat-Horenczyk, Brom & Vogel, eds., 2014) His main effort goes to bridging the gap between scientific data and the development of service provision in the community.

Gretchen Schmelzer, PhD is a licensed psychologist, trained as a Harvard Medical School Fellow. She is a trauma survivor, who has worked for twenty-five years with the complex issues of trauma, integration and behavior change across every level of system from individuals, to groups, to large systems and countries, including her role as the expert consultant Frontline for their documentary on Alaskan survivors of priest sexual abuse (aired April 19, 2011).

She leads programs using leadership development and trauma-informed emotional intelligence to help communities worldwide engage in the difficult public health issues confronting them such as AIDS and Domestic Violence. Miriam Taylor is a UKCP registered Gestalt psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer who has been in private practice since 1995. Her background was in adult education before training as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

Working as clinical lead of a young peoples’ service  pointed her towards specialising in trauma, and for several years she worked in a specialist trauma service.

Miriam’s particular interest is in the relational integration of trauma and the role of the body. She teaches in the UK and internationally, is an Academic Consultant and examiner for Metanoia Institute, London, and is an associate of Relational Change. Publications include  ‘Trauma Therapy and Clinical Practice: Neuroscience, Gestalt and the Body’ published by the Open University Press in 2014.

Tara S. Dickherber is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in private practice in St. Charles, Missouri.  She works exclusively with individuals who have survived trauma; from sexual violence to veterans with PTSD.

Tara blends clinical hypnotherapy, memory reconsolidation and humor to help her clients overcome the sometimes haunting effects of trauma. It is Tara's passion and goal to heal her clients and aid other practitioners in also finding their style as trauma therapists.

With this in mind, Tara is publishing her first book titled Laughter: The Best Medicine: How Humor can Help Your Clients and Alleviate Burnout. Mark Gerow is the Director of the Mind Body Spirit Program at Mountainside Treatment Center (drug/alcohol rehab) in Canaan, CT.  Mark spent 12 years in the Armed Forces, a decade as an actor then transitioned to the teachings of yoga.  He is the founder of Lunarhythms Yoga with 22 years teaching experience in all aspects of this science to now include trauma-sensitive therapies.

Andrew Hahn Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Guided Self Healing (GSH), an energy psychospiritual mindbody framework for healing our deepest trauma.  Andy teaches workshops nationally on the Enneagram and the Essence Process (which he developed). He received his B.A. from Harvard University and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Hahnemann University. Andy has been a faculty member in the graduate counseling programs at Lesley College and Northeastern University.

Barbara Neiman is an Integrative Occupational Therapist, Yoga Teacher 200RYT, a Coach and National Seminar Presenter. Rebecca Bloom is a Board Certified Art Therapist, Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a level 2 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy practitioner.
